RPG Buddy is a convenient way to keep track of initiative for characters and monsters in your tabletop role playing game session. Store the initiative bonuses of monsters, player characters, and NPCs in the library then create a set of enounters. When you need the encounter, simply bring it up in the RPG Buddy and let the system roll and keep track of initiative for you. This makes it super-easy to reroll initiative each round and also take some of the hassle out of preparing encounters. RPG Buddy also supports deleting monsters and reordering during the encounter so you can adjust things as needed while you are playing your game.

* Store initiative for monsters, player characters, or NPCs
* Track hit points and status effects during the encounter
* Add or customize creature name, HP formula, & initiative bonus
* Prepare encounters ahead of time
* Reorder or delete participants during the encounter
* Compatible with most systems including D&D and Pathfinder
* Includes 3 Bestiarys of Pathfinder compatible data!

Pros and cons of RPG Buddy app for iPhone and iPad

RPG Buddy app good for

This tools is very simple and minimalist. It has only the really necessary stuff needed for speeding up an encounter process. The creation of an encounter and management, such as damage/healing/condition can be done so fast that you wont be using pen an paper ever again.
Cool way to even make your own monsters and encounters! Only problem is no pictures or videos of the encounter!
I was looking for something like this and it works just as advertised. A nice add-in Id like to see in future updates would be a way to track hit points on each creature so I didnt have to flip over to another initiative tracker once combat begins. If it had HP/damage tracking I could consider it an all-in-one for my encounters instead of just something to speed each encounters setup
This is a great little app for keeping track of where the heck everybody is supposed to be in combat order. Certain games, *ahem*, have so much going on each round that its hard to manually keep tabs on who goes when. This is especially true when combatants start delaying their actions and you have to reorder them all. Its also nice because you can enter in all of the encounters you have planned ahead of time and then just pull up the one you need whenever the scenario comes up. Once nice addition might be to add the ability to keep track of creature powers and so you know when the are expended. Overall, a very helpful app indeed.
Great app! I like how easy it is to preplan the encounters and remove some of the tedium of keeping track of everyones rolls and init action. Good work!
Works exactly like it says. It helps me so much as a DM to manage the order of everyones turn!

Some bad moments

Not worth the time. I was very disappointed with this program.
When i first read this app. I thought it would be a handy tool. When i tried to use this, it only had the base character types (human, elf, dwarf etc) as names and some generic #s, that i could only assume would be initiative rolls. No real instructions. After thumbing around on it i found i could add characters/ creatures by naming them i tried using the status but couldnt seem to apply them to who i needed. Then i found where you can BUY a bestiary 1 and 2 and some other creature sets ranging from .99 to 4.99 which claimed to add over 300 creatures. Well, wouldnt you guess it... They dont. I only saw 20 added to my generic list. So i uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, wondering if this may download what i had paid for. But the app cleared everything and wanted me to buy them again. ( so dont buy them). Overall...i can write and track 10 creatures in battle on my own before this app could successfully track 2
This app would be useful, if I could actually input characters. Instead, add party member brings me down to the same drop down list of the generic monsters. So there is no way that I can tell to actually use the initiative function, pretty much leaving this app useless. A complete waste of a 1.99. Will update review if that functionality is created.
